There is an AllTrails hike you can loosely follow - https://www.alltrails.com/trail/canada/alberta/standish-and-rock-isle-viewpoint-loop?u=i. And here is what I recommend you to do there.
#1 Buy tickets online
Unlike some of the other hikes in Banff area, this is not free because you would have to take a Gondola up first. So you can buy tickets when you get there or you can save time to buy it online at https://www.banffsunshinemeadows.com. Interestingly it is not that busy compared with other places such as Banff Gondola (which I don't recommend because it is way too touristy) so you can buy ticket at the desk too. There is restroom and some basic food/drink to purchase at the gondola (and place to eat up there too).
#2 Drive
ADDRESS: #1 Sunshine Access Road, Banff, Alberta, Canada, T1L 1J5 https://goo.gl/maps/FiTgFd4JJ3TQsHFAA
#3 Take the gondola up
Who doesn't like Gonola right? Among many Gonolas in Banff/Jasper area, this may not be the prettiest or most interesting one to ride, and it is a bit slow, but it gets you there for a beautiful view.
#4 Take the chairlift up to viewing deck area
You can hike up and take chairlift down (or use chairlift in both ways) but most people choose to take a chairlift up and then hike down. It is about 3 miles down so relatively easy and fun hike (especially because you are hiking down rather than up)
#5 Walk to Standish Viewing Deck and then walk down
Follow the sign to Sunshine Village and you will be back to Godola in a few hours including taking pictures and rest.
Preparations
- Bring some water
-- A Jacket because it might be a bit cold on the top.
- Bug spray is a must!!! Beautiful lakes also attract mosquitos. Lots of them! I mean really a lot of them!
- Pay attention to Gondola time - Summer last Gondola down is around 6pm but read the sign to make sure you won't miss it!
